Heating up in Dallas

It's been a while since my last post. After things ended for us in Austin, my team was sent to Dallas where we started off doing more DSA work. Now, however, we've moved on to work with the Voluntary Agency Liaison at FEMA Region 6 in Denton. This person works with nonprofits after disasters to establish long-term recovery plans for communities. We've been helping by identifying these organizations and then compiling lists with all their essential information.

My team has been commuting to Denton from Plano. It's a long drive, but it isn't so bad since we're in a pretty nice hotel.

This past weekend I took a day off to go visit my boyfriend Kyle in Kansas City (I got a flight with Spirit for only $100.) I successfully surprised him with the help of his family and roommates. We went to his brother's wedding and then celebrated his birthday.

This is our last week before transition week. We'll be participating in an active shooter drill on Thursday, and leaving for Denver on Friday. Then it's breaktime--off to San Francisco with my friends, then Chicago with my family. I can't wait to map out where I've been this year. It will be quite interesting to see.
