Austin winds dying down

Even though tropical storm Bill passed through the area recently, things are starting to wind down for us FEMA Corps members in Austin. Most individuals who had damage to their property have registered with FEMA already, meaning that our role in Disaster Survivor Assistance is becoming obsolete for this disaster. We will probably be moved to another location within a week or two. Arkansas just declared a federal disaster, so there are rumors we might head there. But, as I have learned, FEMA rumors don't mean anything, so we'll see what happens.
On a different note, my team leader has left the team to pursue a job in Denver, CO. It's been a weird transition period these past couple of weeks, with her role phasing out and a replacement team leader stepping in, but my team is excited to have a change of pace and new energy. In the meantime, we've been enjoying some Austin attractions including Hippie Hollow, Pace Bend Park, Snow Beach, Lady Bird Lake, Sixth Street, Rainey Street, etc.
