10 months of luggage
As many of you know, I've been anxiously awaiting the start of my 10-month AmeriCorps FEMA service term. I committed to the program back in summer 2014, and after six long months, the time has finally come. Unfortunately (or fortunately!), due to the nature of this particular service program, I have no idea what I'll be doing. Here's what I know so far:
1. I fly to Denver on my birthday for one month of training
2. For the remaining 9 months, I could be placed anywhere in the continental 48
3. FEMA is an organization that prepares for and responds to natural disasters
4. I think I'm going to be a storm chaser
I'll use this blog to update anyone interested (but mostly my mom) about my mysterious whereabouts and activities. Community service has always been an important and enjoyable part of my life, so I'm really happy to spend my first post-grad year in this situation. I'll try to keep the writing to a minimum--BuzzFeed list-style. Enjoy!
